Successful first day for SMS ticket in Uppsala
Passengers appreciate the option of buying bus fare by SMS 414 tickets were sold on the first day alone. This is more than twice the number UL had anticipated for the launch date. Bus drivers are also positive about the new way to pay bus fare.
After adding the number of SMS tickets sold on the first day, UL noted that 414 tickets were sold from 5:00 in the morning until midnight. By eight o'clock on Tuesday morning, more than 100 tickets had been sold and the trend from launch day continues, second day sales will end at over 500 SMS tickets.
"There is only one word for these results and it is success," said Klas Wåhlberg, CEO of UL. By providing our passengers with this convenient option to pay on board the bus, we have taken an important step in minimizing cash handling on board Stadstrafiken in Uppsala.
UL will follow the development of sales and it is hoped that daily SMS tickets sales will soon reach 1000 per day.
"A number of bus drivers that I talked to today have had only positive experiences and believe that SMS tickets are a great way to reduce cash handling on board the buses," said UL CCO Sture Jonsson.
